Problem Solving.

One of the aspects I love the most of working with paper mâché is problem solving. It boils down to capturing the vision someone has in their mind and making it come to life!

A friend/collector commissioned me to create 2 tails; one a Rainbow Trout tail for her son, who loves to fish, and a Mermaid Tail for her daughter, who loves mermaids.

Why just the tails, you may ask? The tails were meant to hang on the wall beside their beds, with the body side of the tail just under their bed level to make it look as if the rainbow trout and the mermaid were diving into the area below their beds.

The tails ended up taller than me (I’m a whopping 5’2”-lol!) and currently reside in an imaginary body of water in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
